Our sixth unit was about the beginning of the U.S. It taught us about how George Washington became the example for future presidents. We also learned about the first seven presidents and the War of 1812. The unit question, "Why do we explore the unknown?", is like asking what motivates us to take risks. Exploring the unknown is a huge risk. Like with the third unit question, you have to know which risks are worth taking. To our founding fathers, starting a new country was a risk worth taking. An example of a risk you don't want to take is doing drugs. It could get your family caught in the poverty cycle.
